What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

In this video I’m going to talk about the benefits of vitamin D and vitamin D deficiency. In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are if you have a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, struggle with emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more.

What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes for natural sunlight.

What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

Certain foods that have sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat.

What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. For more on vitamin d deficiency, you can check out this article:

  3. So buying bottled water is a bad idea??

    1. +Vintage Michael
BTW I bought the big Berkey model which filters around a gallon a time
(stainless steel unit). Unlike several fads of the past, this thing sits on
the kitchen side 24-7 and I’ve never stopped using it. If you do go for one
I would check to see the capacity depending on your usage. There are just
the two of us here so we don’t use a great deal but if you have a big
family I think larger sizes are available (and smaller!). Typically I fill
it around 2 times a week.

    2. +Glenn Carr I just saw they have a “shower head” to that attaches to the
      shower.

Water filter + shower head should be good to go for the most part. Still
have to work on laundry and research detergent / soap.

Started switching to organic foods and the taste and energy are way better.

I also thought vitamins were helpful until I realized they are not FDA
approved and tests showed that a lot of times what’s “=they say in the
capsule is not there or the does are here than they say… seemed unsafe so
      I just stopped.

My focus now is getting all the vitamins I can out of organic food /
      blending / juicing.

Started blending about a few months ago 1 green drink for lunch per day and
the difference was very noticeable, highly recommend it.

Was unsure what to do about the filter until the recommendation and the
reviews are good as well, thank you : )

There are so many things we can all do to try and improve our health for
sure. Eating organic (and to err on the side of caution perhaps non GMO)
foods is a good stating point. I think many other factors are important too
though. Stress management for example, exercise, adequate sleep, as you’ve
already spotted – the water we drink, bathe in and wash our clothes in.
What our clothes are made of, the air quality we breathe, exposure to
electromagnetic radiation (cell phones, wifi etc). The list goes on and on
and so many things we can try and change to make ourselves healthier but
where do you place the focus and how much do you commit to it is the
      question?!

I’ve done several attempts at different diet styles (keto, paleo etc) and
you will always hear rants from the vegan corner about how healthy theirs
is (still waiting to see where all these uber long lived ones are going to
show up being as the movement has been going for over half a century now).
I think in reality you have to strike a balance between making some good
yet simple changes that you can make work for you. HIT training for example
can be very quick to do (3×20 second bursts at FULL intensity such as
sprinting, stationary bike etc, 3 days per week can be just as effective as
three gruelling sessions in the gym or out jogging for long periods at a
time). Seek out ‘the truth about exercise’ – a BBC documentary presented by
Dr Michael Mosley if that side of health interests you. Popping a decent
water filter on the side in our kitchen is another easy change to make (one
I have stuck with and continue to use to this day). Too many of us go on
crazy health sprees only to fall off the wagon (a bit like dieting which in
the long run is disasterous for most). If you get on well with the green
smoothies that’s great – I might just not be committed enough to stick with
the regime. I did home made kefir for some time from raw milk and I’m
convinced its great stuff but as with many things life often gets in the
way and we fall off the wagon (I did!). Focus on clean eating but if you
feel like a cheat then go for it! Focus on a good exercise regime, even
some yoga if it works for you would be my advice, just don’t push yourself
too hard or you’ll lose track. Baby steps is key, one little thing at a
time and ifs too laborious to stick to then try something else!

    4. To add to your question:– These days, many peoples “clean” mains water
is brought through miles of underground plastic pipes.Even private water
supplies use plastic tanks and pipes…

    5. +hhoward14
You’re not wrong, even BPA free plastics can contain a similar chemical of
unknown effects! Pleased to say my extra fluoride / arsenic filters arrived
today – currently on their first run through which will get discarded then
ready to go with a minimum of 95% fluoride reduction
(presuming you ready my earlier comments re my Berkey water filter). I may
have been missing out on perhaps the most important quality improvement in
drinking water for a good 2 years! Rectified now though.

  4. Why is it so complicated to stay alive

    1. Sorry, water with accumulative fluoride, lead and other contaminants.

    2. +Wairimu Mutiti Thats why you use water filters lol

    3. Bullet-Tooth Tony
      Thank you so much.

    4. beer is cheaper than bottled water

  5. Thank you so much for your info, can Vitamin D deficiency cause low sex
drive/libido and or testosterone levels ?

    1. yup!

  6. Thank you so much for making this video, my blood test came back as vitamin
    d deficient.

    1. same

    2. same

  7. Gosh I am vitamin d deficient . Had to go to 3 different doctors to get the
right blood results my body was dying for years.
I have read in women’s magazines for years that sun is bad for skin and
ages you. I became OCD about it and obsessive. Like Michael Jackson .
I am finally feeling alive after 2 weeks of vitamin d.
So glad to see this video . I had hormone imbalance that gave me acne .
    Thanks

    1. Ya it’s cuz u have a cute white skin face :3 and u probably dnt get a lot
of sun cuz then ur face gets red but I think ur name “whitey” explains ur
      cute face lol

    2. +Chakravarti J haha! XD

  8. I’d rather have a vitamin D deficiency than a wrinkled haggard face from
the sun. Too bad immune system, my vanity is more important.

  9. What do you think of patch vitamins. I have a hard time taking a bunch of
    pills.

    1. u can try in liquid form, sublingual use it absorbs better cause u avoid
digestive tract. this works for me really well. hope it helps! 😊

  10. I’ve just been diagnosed with Vit D Deficiency, my levels are under 5 they
say it’s supposed to be a roundabout 50

    1. i can give you some D

    2. Please take regular Vit D

  11. drinking milk with vit D is that enough?

    1. No. Gotta have some bare skin in the sun.

    2. +MandaStarlight dang it. i dont want to walk out in public naked. well…i
      guess…ill just do it

    3. +BlueRice You could also stream it on twitch while you’re at it!

  12. man you gota get your medical terms right… you started by talking about
the SYMPTOMS, and then went on to list symptoms, but in the midst of that
you stated (for example) “hormone imbalance; major cause of vitamin D
deficiency”… cause? don’t you mean symptom? You did it multiple times, as
well as opening the segment “the big thing that can cause… or the big
    symptoms you might have…”

If someone claiming to be a doctor can’t even get the meaning of and
difference between SYMPTOM and CAUSE right… I’d start to doubt his
    credentials.

  13. where i live theres no sun in this season, the sky is always covered…
will i be fine if i just take some vitamin d pills? i dont even eat eggs
cuz im allergic, and dont think the fish here is wild caught…

  14. I got a DOC’s RX for 50.000 for VIT D! What say you about THAT? I’d like to
    know.

    1. Jenni Flyy you can take it once a week.

  15. Sunlight decreases bilirubine levels for people with Gilbert syndrome. In
winter better to use uvb lamp take vit. D pills.

  16. He was right until he said to eat animal products. They cause too many
health problems. Vitamin D3 is a poison and is used to kill rats and mice.
There are too may risks in taking D3. Use the sun. It is the only safe way
to get your vitamin D. Check out Dr. John McDougall’s videos on Vitamin D
to get what the science actually shows.

  17. Have a water filter, drink from non plastic cup or glass always. Take a
good supplement. I take Source of life, vitamins from fruits and vegetables
with meals. Buy organic food. Take sunlight for 20 minutes at day. Get a
goodnight sleep , if you can’t ,try lavender oil on a diffuser before going
to bed. Have a positive actitud.

  18. I was put on 50,000iu once a week for low D, why was I given D2 from the
doctor. I live in the Northern US, it’s too cold in autumn & winter to go
outside exposed, only face exposed does not do enough.

  19. Dr Axe, you are making a mistake by not pointing out that you want to get
vitamin K2 and vitamin A With your dose of vitamin D because the calcium
metabolism uses all those three vitamins, and excluding one or two of them
hinders the body to metabolise calcium properly and can lead to problems in
the long run.. I am sure you didn’t do this on purpose.. this is New
knowledge and not yet known by every health expert. Thank you for an
    exelent video besides that

  20. How about taking olive oil as an addition? Because you did’t mention it on
    your video. Thank you.
